Developer supports ACT

The Arts Centre and Theatre recently turned five and can certainly boast an impressive start up and list of accomplishments to date.

During the initial capital fundraising campaign, Epic Homes pledged to donate $400 from the sale of each home in its Uplands project to the ACT. That project has now been completed and the total of all contributions reached $78,800 towards the arts centre’s equipment fund.

“Epic Homes has enjoyed being a part of the campaign and is proud to have become a sponsor of the ACT,” said Ryan Connolly, Epic general manager. “Knowing that a portion from the sales in our development has given back to the community in such a positive way has been rewarding for our staff. It has a lasting impact that we can all benefit from for many years to come,” said Connolly.

“The completion of the arts centre and its success has been due, in part, to the generous support and contributions like that of Epic Homes and we are grateful to them for their long-term commitments,” said Mike Murray, general manager, community development, parks and recreation services.

Murray noted that there has been substantial growth in all areas of the theatre’s operations. Ticket sales grew to 48,500 in 2007 from 8,839 in 2003, the first year of the ACT.

Programs have increased to more than 4,400 from 828 during the same span.
