If you know someone who has lived in Maple Ridge or Pitt Meadows that has done outstanding things for the community or achieved excellence in sports, here’s your chance to get them the recognition they deserve.

The Ridge Meadows Hall of Fame at the Maple Ridge Public Library is accepting nominations, and they need your help to identify the best and brightest Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows has to offer.

Nominees must have lived in the community for a significant number of years and done exceptional things to better the community.

Past inductees include Cam Neely, Brendan Morrison, Larry Walker, Greg Moore and Nobel-prize winning economist Robert Mundell.

Sports nominees must be over the age of 19 and have achieved excellence at the world, Olympic, Pan Am, National or B.C. level of competition.

“We are looking for people who help put our community on the map and make it better place to live,” said Hall of Fame founder, Ann Meraw.

Meraw knows a thing or two about Halls of Fame - the local swimming legend is a member of the Ridge Meadows Hall of Fame, the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame, and this September will be inducted into the Canadian Swimming Hall of Fame.

• Nominations letters can be sent to Ann Meraw, at 22213 Selkirk Ave., Maple Ridge, from now until the end of August.
