Country Fest loves kids

Kids will have a ball this weekend at Country Fest 2009.
Starring on the Fun Til You’re Done Farm Kids Stage, ventriloquist Neale Bacon will wow the kids with his pig friend.
Will Stroet will also perform, singing about children’s realities – using humorous characters and catchy guitar driven songs that keep children excited throughout the show.
“Because of our strong French immersion program in B.C., Will is also be adding a french component into his show,” said fair organizer Lorraine Bates.
“And my goodness, what would a festival be without Lucy Potato. She is way too energetic to perform on a stage, so watch for her all around the grounds.”
Colourful is an understatement to describe Lucy Potato – a big kid who wants to make the world a better place. She painted more than 40,000 pink, sparkly noses for peace in the 1990s, many of them at the Maple Ridge agricultural fair.
“She believes that there would be no war if we all had nose jobs like these,” Bates said. “She also promotes green fruits and vegetables”
Other activities and entertainment for kids at the fair include Trail Stars bike shows, craft tables, fly fishing lessons, tumbling and gymnastics, mini-guitar lessons, hockey, extreme Frisbie and races.
All are free.
Activities that aren’t: Jungle Jacks bouncy castle; Bells and Whistles Mini Golf; monster truck rides; West Coast Amusements midway.
