The Whonnock Weavers and Spinners will celebrate the United Nation’s International Year of the Natural Fibre at this year’s Country Fest, July 25-26.
The group will set up a booth in Planet Ice with the theme “Connecting Traditional Fibre Arts With Today’s Urban Lifestyles”

The emphasis will be on sharing with as many people as possible the ancient arts of spinning, weaving, basket making, knitting, felting, crocheting, dyeing and more,” said fair organizer Lorraine Bates.
There will be demonstrations as well as hands-on activities for those who wish to try their hands at some exciting fibre arts.
There will also be a People’s Choice Award, as well as sales booths and mini workshops. Make yarn dolls, felted bracelets or try Kool-Aid dyeing or spool knitting, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
