Teens set fire to Pitt Meadows school
Police question the driver of the blue truck, left, after a rollover along Dewdney Trunk Rd. at 207th St. Wednesday afternoon sent the other driver to hospital. The accident happened after the black car travelling eastbound along Dewdney Trunk Rd. in the left lane sped up for a yellow light even though the car in the right lane had stopped. The blue truck proceeded to make a left hand turn from Dewdney Trunk to 207th when it was struck by the black car and flipped onto its side. The driver of the black car was sent to hospital with unknown injuries and will likely be at fault for the accident. Traffic was diverted from the accident scene to Lougheed Hwy. in both directions while the cleanup crews removed the vehicles.

Three teenagers were spotted lighting a fire near a Pitt Meadows elementary school Wednesday.
The group was seen around 8 p.m. by a person who lives near Davie Jones elementary.
The Pitt Meadows Fire Department was called and quickly extinguished the blaze.
RCMP said the teens responsible ran away and have not yet been apprehended.
“Due to the quick actions of the citizen and the fire department, the school did not suffer any damage,” said Supt. Dave Walsh.
Police would like all citizens to help curb all vandalism in their communities by reporting any suspicious activity.
Cigarettes stolen
Cigarettes were stolen from a grocery store in east Maple Ridge during an break-in early Wednesday.
Ridge Meadows RCMP were called to Cooper’s Food Store at 23981 Dewdney Trunk Road around 4:30 a.m. after receiving a report about a front door window being smashed.
Police arrived quickly but did not locate anyone nearby.
Supt. Dave Walsh said a man dressed in a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark coloured pants was seen around the store at the time of the theft.

Thief caught
A man stopped a woman early Tuesday from trying to steal his friend’s car.
Police responded to the theft in progress around 1 a.m. after receiving a call about the man holding a would-be car thief.
Police allege the woman was seen trying to get into a car that belongs to the man’s friend. When the man intervened, the woman pulled out a knife in an attempt to escape.
The man managed to disarm the woman and held her until police arrived.
Police are recommending charges of attempted theft and possession of a weapon.

Police are looking for the owner of a plastic storage case that was located in Maple Ridge on Tuesday.
The hard-shelled plastic case was located in the 21500 block of Dewdney Trunk Road around 3 p.m.

SUV stolen
A SUV was stolen from a home in Pitt Meadows this week.
Police believe the green 1992 Jeep Wrangler, bearing New York state license plate EWG7580 was taken between Monday and Wednesday.
