Midget Division

N. Delta Longhorns 49

Cloverdale Bengals 7

Highlights: Brandon Leyh threw touchdown passes to Sean O’Neil, Jacob Rogers and B.B. Uppal, and ran two yards for another major score to lift the Longhorns.

O’Neil added a second touchdown on an 85-yard run, with Aaron Purdy and Lucas Cordick also scoring.

Cordick’s touchdown came on a return of the first of his two interceptions.

Troy Klassen kicked all seven converts.

On defence, Robin MacDonald batted down two Bengals pass attempts, and Jeff Paras forced a fumble which was recovered by Tanar Rushworth. Other outstanding contributions came from Ford Marcotte, Jesse Parmar, Monty Josan, Roman Grewal and Sam Vanderwood.

Troy Lindsay converted a touchdown from Victor Trot for Cloverdale’s only points.

North Surrey Bears 34

Westside Warriors 0

Highlights: John Evans intercepted a pass and made seven tackles to lead the Bears to a shutout win. Also contributing defensively were Uzbek Azzullah and Ross Whitelaw. Derek Halicki with three touchdowns, Shawn Sitthikoun and Tyrene Van hoorn with one each, and kicker Kam Gill with four points accounted for the scoring.

Jr. Bantam Division

Cloverdale Cougars 66

N. Delta Longhorns 0

Highlights: Antonio Mendoza returned an interception 110 yards to score one of his four touchdowns against the Longhorns. Mendoza also kicked six converts for another 12 points.

Ahad Fayaz scored a pair of touchdowns, one on a 55-yard run after stripping the ball from an opponent. Liam Kelly, Mike Carter and Ben Ingvaldson also had major scores.

Great blocking came from Jomari Gaza, Reece Russell and Tarman Toor allowed quarterbacks Kelly and Mendoza to complete passes to Russell, Gage Morton, Harpaul Gill and Carter.  

A solid defensive effort featured an interception from Fayaz and quarterback sacks from Carter, Fayaz and Landon Wisheart.  Also playing well were Zac Blouin, Bryce Telford, Matt Bahi, Alex Mack and Riley Nagy.

Cloverdale Jaguars 44

Royal City Hyacks 14

Highlights: The Jaguars got a pair of touchdowns from Justin Delaurier and one each from Alex Bachmeier, Caleb Abraham, Christian MacMillan and Carlos Alvaro. Bachmeier and Alvaro also had two converts each.

Outstanding on the line were Harcharn Dhaliwal, Manveer Duhra, Harry Nguyen, Justin Anderson, James Davies and Aaron Halvorson. Abraham rushed for 148 yards on 12 carries, Bachmeier contributing by carrying the ball and blocking, while Halvorson anchored the defence with 10 solo tackles.

North Surrey Falcons 40

Westside Warriors 0

Highlights: Isaiah Bryant, Calvin Leung, Jordan Bergh, Karamveer Rai and Josh Yancew each scored their first touchdowns of the season to lead to Falcons to a victory. Yancew’s score was a result of an interceptions return. Manraj Kalsi kicked all five converts for another 10 points.

Pee Wee Division

N. Delta Longhorns 61

White Rock Titans 32

Highlights: Thenassi Dendis led a strong effort by the offensive line, allowing the Longhorns to get touchdowns from Tui Binghi, Truce Ighorewo, Taylor Pencer and Jacob Konishi.

Cloverdale Lynx 26

Royal City Hyacks 6

Highlights: Lynx touchdowns came from David Burchart, Nathan Kolb, Chanse Bhullar and Nash Kinna, with Jeffrey Poitras adding a pair of converts. A rush from Tyson Gilfillen, a sack by Darius MacKay and tackled from Tristan McKinnon and Jeremy Jacobs were standouts, with Kristian Thompson and Tristan Erwood also contributing to the win.

Atom Division

Cloverdale Tigers 34

Burnaby Lions 6

Highlights: Derek Best ran for a pair of touchdowns, threw for a third, and added another two points on convert attempts to lead the Tigers. Oakley Wisheart also scored two majors for Cloverdale, one on a reception of a Best throw. Walter Dingwall with a touchdown and two points of conversions from Cameron Kumar completed the scoring. Jayden Pooni led the defence with a fumble recovery and two tackles. Raydan Kumar was effective blocking on Tigers kick returns.

N. Delta Longhorns 14

Coquitlam Bears 14

Highlights: Brothers Jaden and Tyson Philpot following the front line of Jake McEachern, Jhanek Rai, Max Sache, Fraser Pergo and Mark Fontana into the end zone for the two North Delta touchdowns. Sunjay Bath kicked a two-point convert to tie the game.

Top performers on defence were Brody Clark, Tayvlon Johnson, Diallo Ighorewo, Jacob Vanluven, Joseph Parsons and Dedaar Jhooty.

Cloverdale Lions 36

White Rock Titans 0

Highlights: Dawson Merchant scored a pair of touchdowns and J.T. Balfour added one major and kicked three two-point converts, totaling 12 points each to lead the Lions. Josiah Ordough and Kojo Odoom also scored touchdowns, running behind the blocking of Brayden Hewgill, Bryce Craig, Davis Lutterodt, Sameer Gohman and Bryce Kurtenacker on the offensive line.

Other standouts included Trey Jones and Kojo Odoom on defence, and Jayden Simon on special teams.
