Three players from local minor football associations were winners in this year’s B.C. Lions Punt, Pass and Kick contest.

Taran Birdi of Cloverdale Community Football finished first in the Flag division, with Michael Dowhaniuk of White Rock/South Surrey topping the Atom division and Lucas Gibson of North Surrey winning in the Junior Bantam group.

The Punt, Pass and Kick program tests a player’s accuracy and distance in the three football skills. Community teams from across the Lower Mainland are invited each year by the Lions to hold inter-squad competitions with the winners competing in a final tournament held at BC Place.

This year’s final was on Saturday, Sept. 19 prior to the Lions’ Canadian Football League game against the Toronto Argonauts.

“The BC Lions would like to congratulate all the teams and players for participating in this year’s Punt, Pass and Kick,” said Jamie Taras, BC Lions Director of Community Relations.

“All our participants competed hard and it is very rewarding to see all the young, talented football players that British Columbia is developing.”
