The North Delta Devils are two-for-two on home ice early in the Pacific International Junior Hockey League season.

The Junior B team edged the Port Moody Black Panthers 2-1 Monday night at the Sungod Arena, their second victory in three days in North Delta.

Lynden Patterson gave the home side the lead after 12 minutes of play, and Trevor Kang made it 2-0 four minutes into second period.

Gurveer Clair netted a powerplay goal for the Black Panthers 95 seconds after Kang’s tally, but 16-year-old Matt Walker was a standout in his first-ever Junior B game, turning aside 30 of 31 shots for the victory.

Now at 2-1 (won-lost) on the season, the Devils will play a home-and-home series this weekend against the Squamish Wolf Pack, facing-off tonight (Saturday) night at 7 p.m. in the Sungod Arena before Sunday’s rematch in Squamish.
