Fleetwood teams shine at provincials

The Fleetwood Fastpitch Association is home to a pair of provincial champions.
Teams from Fleetwood have collected six medals at Softball B.C. provincial championship tournaments over the past two weekends, including gold medals in the Bantam A boys and Midget B girls divisions.
The Fleetwood Marlins rode the pitching performances of Bradley Peck, Alex Webb and Dayne Pederson, surrendering just seven runs over the course of their Bantam A boys tournament in Langford. In winning a B.C. championship, the Marlins will compete at the Western Canada championships in Winnipeg.
The Fleetwood Force broke the hearts of Langley at the Midget B tournament in Port Coquitlam. The Force defeated Langley 8-2 in the championship game, after Langley had gone 33-0 (won-lost) in league, tournament and provincial championship play.
A pair of boys teams won silver medals. The Fleetwood Blue Jays placed second in the Bantam C category in Langford, losing by one run to Richmond in the championship game. At the Pee Wee C tournament in Barriere, the Fleetwood Hitmen went 4-0 in round robin play, only to lose 5-4 to the Chilliwack Athletics in the championship game.
Winning bronze medals were the Fleetwood Thunder in the Pee Wee C girls division in Cloverdale, and the Fleetwood Roadrunners in the Squirt C boys tournament in Whalley.
