The girls of summer will be back in South Surrey this weekend.

The 16th annual Canada Cup International Women's Fastpitch Tournament takes place at Softball City from July 4-12.

Some of the best women’s fastpitch players in world will be in competition as national teams from the U.S., Australia, Venezuela, Netherlands and the host Canadian squad will be vying for the title of Canada Cup Champions.

And the festivities don’t end there. The Canada Cup will feature four tournaments in one, with as many as 59 teams from all over the world converging on Softball City and Cloverdale Athletic Park.

The Canada Cup International Fastpitch Futures Tournament, World Junior Women's will also be on display July 6-12. Futures is a tournament made up of players aged 19 and under and showcases some of the best up-and-coming female fastpitch players in North America.

Three squads from White Rock, two from Delta, and one each from Surrey and Langley will be competing against top opponents from across Canada and the U.S.

Local teams will also be competing in the Canada Cup 16 and under Fastpitch Showcase Tournament July 6-12. Two teams from Delta, two from Surrey, two from Langley and one from White Rock will be out to show their stuff against the best in their age group from across North America.

Last but not least, the Canada Cup Special Olympics Friendship Tournament will be on hand at Softball City July 4-5. Taking to the field will be softball teams from Chilliwack, Langley, Coquitlam and Vancouver.
