Welcome to my neighbourhood. I do not reside in the South Westminster area or West Panorama Ridge, but I am living your bigger home nightmare.
My family and I have proudly resided in the same neighbourhood for many years. Unfortunately, our rancher home lifestyle (with large lot) is no longer appreciated or respected. We are dwarfed by elevated structures approved under the title of “single family homes.”
Single family zoned areas are not recognized by the city, developers or private builders.
I fully support and encourage families to live communal lives when possible.
A single mortgage helper is sometimes necessary.
However, in most cases, what I witness is shared family living upstairs, rental units down. I watch children play on the balcony (never the yard) until the balcony is enclosed for living space (permit?).
Parking issues, frequent tenant turnover, unaccountable statistics.
Good luck with your bigger house protest.
