No sense of community at Surrey Central

Open letter to the cowards at Surrey Central bus stop:

I have never been so ashamed and disgusted of my fellow residents of Surrey. What I witnessed at Surrey Central SkyTrain station last evening at about 6:30 p.m. just made me sick.

As I went to the SkyTrain to go over and watch the Canucks at my brother’s place I noted a commotion in front of the convenience store. Directly across the street from the commotion are about 40 or so people lined up waiting for a bus.

I realized that the commotion was a gang of three girls beating on a young girl who was down on the sidewalk. They were kicking, punching and trying to stomp on the poor girl’s head. Not one of you were helping this young girl. Not one!

I ran over and yelled at the three attackers, “What the &$@* are you doing?”

As I got there, they backed off. The young victim was bleeding from the nose and had some swelling of her lip and face. Just one more hit could have been to this poor girl’s head and who knows what would have happened then.

I walked the young lady to the pizza shop to clean the blood from her face. I informed them that she had been jumped outside and they would not allow her to use the facilities to clean the blood unless she purchased something from them. I took some napkins anyway for the young lady, walked her to her bus and waited at the bus until it left to ensure her attackers did not follow and get on the bus.

Over 40 damned people watching three girls beat another. What the hell is wrong with all of you? Do you want to know why the violent offenders feel they can get away with murder (literally) in our community? It is because people like you just stand there and watch.

You should be as ashamed of yourselves as the attackers. You were just as guilty by not having the sense God gave a flea to intervene.

Let’s all think about what our communities mean to us. Do we want safe communities? It takes action from each and every one of us to work together. If you think the police are going to make us safe, you are sadly mistaken.

There are too few of them, they are over-worked and get no cooperation from the residents of the community. They can not be expected to do it alone. We each have to do our part here and help them.

Could any of the attackers pulled a knife and stabbed me? Sure, but I have been stabbed before and it hurts a lot less than watching 40 people stand and watch another get attacked.
