Fireworks complaints disturbing

This letter is in response to recent letter writers who complained about Diwali fireworks disturbing the neighbourhood.

What I want to know is would these people have written these letters if it had been Halloween?

I read them and was shocked. Diwali should be a national holiday, just like Christmas. And before anyone disagrees, remember we are all immigrants. Christmas and Diwali are both holidays – wonderful holidays – brought to this land by immigrants.

But my point is that all the people who have problems with Diwali and the fireworks and who complain, then turn around and celebrate Halloween with their kids – using fireworks on that day.

Myself, I am a open-minded person who believes in one God, one greater spirit, and happily celebrates every religious festival and loves it. I have no complaints.
