B.C. has a short tax memory

Re: “HST rally draws crowd,” The Leader, Sept. 23.
Prior to the last B.C. election, the B.C. government’s carbon tax also drew crowds.
What happened to the B.C. carbon tax? The B.C. Liberal party won a majority, and the carbon tax is still with us and forgotten.
Do you think that the HST will not be with us in 2013, when the next provincial election takes place? By that time it will be a distant memory.
As far as the HST giving large corporations a tax break is concerned, look at Tim Hortons donut outlets.
Tim Hortons left Canada for the U.S. because of high taxes in Canada. It is now back in Canada because of lower taxes, creating Canadian jobs and paying Canadian taxes.
Other companies will also find Canada as the best place to create employment.
