More roads mean more traffic

Proceeding with the plan to cut through Bear Creek Park would demonstrate a dire lack of political will to provide a real solution to the problem of congestion not just along 88 Avenue, but on every main route throughout Surrey: Too much traffic.
The solution? Decrease the traffic, not build more roads.
If there is so much money in the budget for road construction, why not divert it to the cash-strapped transit system and get some of those commuters out of their cars?
It costs between $2,000 and $10,000 a year to operate a personal motor vehicle. Solving the traffic problem by providing better public transit, decreasing individual vehicles and putting vehicle operating costs back into the pockets of commuters would show real leadership.
It’s easy to spend taxpayers’ money. It takes some creativity to avoid wasting it.
