It doesn’t surprise me to read your story regarding the further destruction of Surrey’s historic homes and buildings. I believe you published my previous letter regarding the destruction of buildings in Calgary. This sounds very much like the same approach.
The city needs to replace Coun. Barbara Steele, who seems to lack any kind of interest regarding hiring a historic consultant. She promised that would happen after the last go around. Soon, most buildings of interest will be gone.
The Seven Day Adventist Church should be saved just based on its age and its historical value. Perhaps someone might buy this church and restore it.
