Ugly billboards create distraction
A letter writer argues that city officials should be working to make Surrey more attractive, not ‘ugly’ by erecting large electronic billboards.

As a proud citizen of Surrey and as a proponent of building bridges and infrastructure that will improve mobility and traffic flow in our city, I have to express my disappointment regarding the installation of electronic billboards. They are ugly and create more distraction to already “distracted” drivers in our city.
This city makes enough money in tax revenue and should concentrate on beautifying our surroundings and not making them more ugly.
Who would want to put ugly signs on our beautiful Golden Ears Bridge?
Taxpayer-funded areas are meant for promoting public interests only.
The last thing we need is ill-conceived ideas that only serve to make a commercial and electronic billboard mess of our city.
