Today (Friday), June 26, 2009 Fleetwood Elementary School will close permanently after 65 years.

Our family moved to the Fleetwood area almost 30 years ago, primarily due to the fabulous reputation of Fleetwood Community School, which later changed its name to Fleetwood Elementary.

All four of our daughters attended Fleetwood and benefited immensely from the teaching staff and volunteers that made up the school environment. We would like to say a huge thank you to the staff, volunteers and students past and present of Fleetwood. Teachers such as Linda Gidora, Diane Nelson, Sandy Koochin, Selma Howard, Vivian Ginter, Robin Funk, Ellen Wong and Cheryl Kallberg to name such a very few deserve our heartfelt thanks for their dedication to the students and school programs. They truly made a positive difference in our lives.

That we are sad our school is closing is a gross understatement! We will never forget the feel that came from being part of the Fleetwood family.
