A 31-year-old Surrey man is one of two men now charged in connection with the abduction and murder of a man in Vancouver in February.
Charles Anthony Leslie of Surrey was arrested last Friday for the killing of 31-year-old Ronak Wagad, a South Asian man abducted Feb. 23 from his Vancouver apartment.
Babak Najafi-Chaghabouri, 27, of North Vancouver was arrested Sunday.
Both men are charged with first-degree murder, abduction and forcible confinement.
RCMP spokesperson Tim Shields said both the accused men and the victim were involved in the mid-level drug trade.
Wagad's remains were discovered July 8 near the Peters Road exit off Highway 1 east of Chilliwack.
"Three families have now been changed forever, which is another example of the destruction of lives through the drug trade," Shields said.
"Drug trafficking is a lose-lose proposition," he added. "The users lose, the traffickers lose, their families lose, our communities lose – we all lose."
