A Surrey man known to police was found shot at a gas station in Whalley late Monday night, the city's fourth incident of gun violence in the past week.
At 10:38 p.m. Aug. 25, police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 108 Ave. and King George Highway.
In a nearby Shell gas station parking lot RCMP located a 33-year-old man who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to hospital to be treated for his injuries and is in stable condition.
A suspect fled the scene and as of press time Tuesday morning had not been identified or located.
The attack is not random, RCMP say, and appears to be drug-related.
However, information obtained by witnesses as well as the victim is limited owing to an "unwillingness to co-operate with police."
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502. Or if you wish to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
Last Tuesday, Aug. 19, Manjit Sandhu, 47, and her daughter Sabrina, 23, were gunned down in their Newton home.
The mother was pronounced dead at the scene and Sabrina remains in hospital in serious condition.
On Thursday, Aug. 21, 21-year-old Gurpreet Sidhu was killed in what police are calling a targeted shooting outside his family's home in Whalley.
His friend, Opinder Sian, 21, was also shot but survived.
Early the following morning, police responded to reports of shots fired in the 10600 block of 140 Street.
Investigators found several casings but no victim. RCMP believe it was a drive-by shooting.
