An overnight shooting in Surrey's Guildford neighbourhood has left one woman dead and one man in hospital.
Police arrived at a home in the 10200 block of 152A Street shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday.
Inside officers discovered an adult female on the floor suffering from apparent gunshot injuries.
A further search found an adult male also suffering from an apparent gunshot injury along with multiple additional people inside the home.
The woman died at the scene.
The man was taken to hospital by ambulance suffering from serious but non-life threatening injuries. He was expected to require surgery, police said.
The area was cordoned off and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called in to investigate.
IHIT spokesman Cpl. Dale Carr said the building is used as an underground nightclub.
"We haven't established whether it was a booze can, but it's a place where people return to party after they were at the bar," Carr said.
Neighbours told CTV News the owners of the home applied to turn it into a nightclub, but were rejected. Before that, they said it operated as a daycare.
Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to call the IHIT TIP Line at 1-877-551-IHIT. If you wish to remain anonymous call CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-222-TIPS.
