The announcement was made Friday in Ottawa by federal justice minister Rob Nicholson.

Bowden was on the executive of the Canadian Tax Foundation from 1990 to 1993, chairman and governor of the Law Foundation of British Columbia from 1990 to 1995 and chairman of the Legal Services Society of British Columbia from 2003 to 2004.
