Man rescued from tree

Surrey Fire Department members were called to a home at 130 Street and 100 Avenue in Surrey Tuesday afternoon to assist a man stuck near the top of a 40-foot-tall tree.

The man had apparently been trimming the tree along the north side of the property when one of the branches fell on a power line, causing a small fire.

BC Hydro was called in to cut power to the line while firefighters used a ladder truck to rescue the man from the tree. He was checked by paramedics at the scene and appeared to be uninjured.
