Surrey RCMP have released security video of a stabbing last March in Whalley and are asking the public for help in identifying those responsible.
Surveillance footage shows two small groups involved in a confrontation outside the Central City Brewing Co. pub shortly before 1:30 a.m. on March 15.
Following what police describe as an "initial skirmish" outside the establishment, a group of three men and a woman appear to be trying to leave the area when a group of five men surround them.
One of the men in the larger group produces a knife that police estimate to be between one to two feet long.
He lunges at one man, 21, stabbing him in the right side of his neck.
The attacker then stabs a second man, 22, in the torso. According to physicians, the knife came within one inch of the man's heart, police say.
The second victim collapses to the ground, and some of the suspects kick him in the head and body until they are fended off by another man.
Both victims survived.
The tape shows the suspects fleeing the scene in two vehicles: an older model dark green Ford 150 and a smaller dark-coloured car.
Police have spoken to one suspect, a 20-year-old male, but have not been able to track down the other four.
Anyone that can identify any or all involved is asked to contact RCMP Cst. Simran Grewal at 604-599-0502.
