Have faith

Multifaith Storytelling Kits are coming to the Surrey Public Library.

The kits, the result of an effort by a network of local faith communities, will contain books, CDs and other materials designed to assist educators in teaching about religious diversity in the community.

The project is "historic," local interfaith activist Acharya Dwivedi said in a statement.

“With its focus on children and families, this project brings something new and important to the international interfaith movement.”

David Dalley, one of the project co-ordinators, said Surrey is an ideal place for multi-faith education. It has a diversity of faith traditions and a vibrant early childhood education community, he said.

The project is made possible by an Inter-faith Bridging Project grant through EmbraceBC, a program of the provincial Ministry of Citizens’ Services. The project is spearheaded by a partnership between the Surrey Neighbouring Faiths Program, DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society and Surrey Public Library.

Anyone interested in participating is welcome.

An orientation workshop is to take place Nov. 8. For more information or to get involved, contact Dalley at davidanderin@dalley.ca or 604-502-8661.
