The fourth annual BC Juried Photographic Exhibition artShots is taking place at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre (1172 56 St.) This is an initiative of the Delta Arts Council that has been very popular: More thanb two hundred Photographic prints have been received for each of the past years. Deadline for the call for entry is Oct. 15. Applications are available in the Firehall Centre for the Arts (11489 84 Ave.), the Tsawwassen Arts Centre and the public libraries in Delta, as well as Art Council offices throughout BC. Peace Arch Community Services is hosting a Community Resources Fair on Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Newton Recreation Centre. More than 50 booths to help with addiction, health care, disabilities, housing and more. For more information, visit www.pacscaf.com or www.pascbc.org

The second annual Uke-Toberfest, sponsored jointly by the Ukrainian Self-Reliance and Ukrainian Women’s Associations, takes place Oct. 18 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Centre, 13512 108 Ave. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., buffet dinner is at 6:30 p.m. at the dance, featuring DJ Jerry Solowan, takes place after. Theatre

What would happen if Whose Line is it Anyway had a child with The Apprentice? The Imprentice, a comedic collaboration between Vancouver TheatreSports League and Arts Club Theatre, comes to the Surrey Arts Centre until Oct. 25. When an all-powerful host with fantastically bad hair holds a competition, a group of improvisers must employ all their formal training, street-smarts and improv-chutzpah to win the ultimate boardroom battle. Women

Youth

Playwrights between the ages of 13 and 21 are invited to submit a one-act play to the Youth Arts Council of Surrey’s Write On contest by the deadline of Oct. 24. Volunteers

The Guildford Community Volunteer Patrol is a group of citizens working together pro-actively to reduce auto crime. Working in partnership with Concord Security and the RCMP, volunteers patrol in teams of two, wearing highly visible jackets, and are equipped with two-way radios. Volunteers act as “eyes only” and never get involved in confrontational situations. Law enforcement students will gain patrol, observation, radio, and note taking skills. Volunteering with the Guildford Community Volunteer Patrol provides resume-building opportunities.
