Human dignity through art

Amnesty International invites visual artists to consider the meaning of human dignity through their art.

This invitation is open to artists working in any two-dimensional media that can be displayed on an easel: maximum size 30 by 30 inches and two inches deep; no minimum size. No three-dimensional work can be considered for this exhibition.

Original works may be on paper, canvas, or on board and may include oil, acrylic, watercolour, illustration, collage, photography, and mixed media. Works may be framed or unframed, but must be prepared for easel display. Works may have been completed in the past or created specifically for this exhibition and sale.

There is no entry fee and artists may enter up to three works each. This exhibition is a fundraiser for Amnesty International, and sale proceeds will be split with the artist as follows: 60 per cent to Amnesty International and 40 per cent to the artist. A People’s Choice award and two Honourable Mentions will be determined by people viewing the exhibition. Additional prizes may be announced. Sale will be by silent auction.

Acceptance will be based on electronic (e-mail) submissions in jpg format. In the message please include dimensions, approximate weight, and any special handling instructions we should know, as well as contact information including artist name, address, and phone number. Please also indicate the title, the year the work was completed, and a minimum bid price.

The deadline for entry is Sept. 25. Contact Don Wright at 604-294-5160 or at dwright@amnesty.ca.
