Close to 1,000 Air Cadets from across the Lower Mainland will gather at Boundary Bay Airport on Sept. 20 to commemorate the 69th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

In doing so the youth of the Air Cadet League of Canada will be honouring veterans of that famous air battle, many who will be in attendance.

Prior to an inspection and march-past by the Air Cadets, a fly-past of vintage wartime aircraft will take place at 1:45 p.m. The event starts at 1:30 p.m.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of flight in Canada, a milestone that is also being celebrated at the ceremony at Boundary Bay Airport that during the Second World War was an RCAF Station and a major west coast site for the Commonwealth Air Training Plan.
