Fleetwood Park grad wins car
Fleetwood Park Secondary grad Madeline Jensen won a 1994 Honda Civic Coupe SI donated by Surrey Honda.
On Sunday, June 21, the Fleetwood Park Secondary Dry Grad Committee held its 2009 Dry Grad Celebration at the Cloverdale Curling Rink.
The purpose of Dry Grad is to hold a safe non-alcoholic event for all Grade 12 graduates after the grad dinner and dance. To encourage the grads to participate, Surrey Honda has donated a car to raffle off each year since 2006, and the Dry Grad parents fundraise enough money to make sure that all grads receive a prize when they leave between 5 and 6 a.m.
The event was attended by 140 students and there were a large number of parent volunteers who spent countless hours of work fundraising and putting this all together. This year, Nasir Kamrudin of Surrey Honda donated a 1994 Honda Civic Coupe SI. The technicians at Surrey Honda donated their time working on the car.
The lucky winner of the Fleetwood Park car give-away was Madeline Jensen. She also received $800 of insurance from B&W Insurance, a one-year BCAA membership donated by BCAA, and a roadside emergency pack donated by ICBC.
