The SASAT committee of Surrey/Delta (South Asian Student Advocacy by Teachers) will be hosting its second-annual Celebration of Education and Family on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the Grand Taj Banquet Hall in Surrey.
This will be a similar format to last year’s well-attended event, free for parents of Surrey students aged 12 and up. The desired outcomes are:
• Empowering parents to be more involved with their child’s education despite perceived barriers (multicultural workers will be available as a resource);
• Educating parents about their child’s academics, computers, Internet, extra-curricular activities and the importance of their involvement in the school;
• Education about current issues in schools and community.
All parents of high school students are encouraged to come attend this free and informative educational evening, which will include dinner. Tickets available at the door, free of charge. No children under age 12.
