Will your next car be electric?
Published: October 05, 2008 7:00 AMHigh gas prices and concerns for the environment have consumers scrambling to find alternatives to the $100 tank of gas. Meanwhile, auto companies are reeling at plunging sales of pickups and SUVs.
On Wednesday (and again next month), energy expert John Stonier will provide background about the auto industry’s love/hate relationship with the electric car, why it has been so elusive for the past 100 years, and why it will likely be in most driveways sooner than you think.
Stonier is currently vice-president of finance and CFO for Day4 Energy Inc. of Burnaby. Day4 is Canada’s leading solar electric technology company that designs, manufactures and sells photovoltaic modules to markets in Europe and the U.S. Sadly, Canada is not a strong market... yet.
Stonier sits on the board of directors for the B.C. Sustainable Energy Association and on the advisory board of one of its new projects: SolarBC.
Stonier is also a director, treasurer and spokesperson of the Vancouver Electric Vehicle Association.
So what are the real facts? Are electric cars ready to meet the demands of the ordinary consumer? What are the current options to get one?
Find out during Stonier’s presentation of “My Next Car will be Electric…and yours will be too!” at the following locations:
