Surrey's Michael Cook has been named treasurer of the Royal Canadian Legion's Dominion Command executive council.
Dominion Command develops national policy for the branches, which are organized into 10 autonomous provincial commands, all with their own executive.
Cook is a lifetime member of the Legion's Cloverdale branch and the son of a Second World War veteran.
He has served as branch president, zone commander and provincial president of British Columbia/Yukon command.
At the national level he has 13 years of service on the Dominion Command executive council and is in his fifth term as treasurer.
Cook has been chairman of Canvet Publications Ltd. since 2000.
He retired from business in 2002 after 30 years heading up his own business distributing Shell Canada products.
