A fifth annual golf invitational has helped a committed group of local RBC employees surpass their fundraising goal on behalf of the Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation.
After achieving their five-year pledge of $300,000 in only four years, tournament organizers held their fifth event at Northview Golf and Country Club. RBC Foundation has donated a further $150,000 to Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation, pushing RBC’s total gift in recent years to more than $500,000.
The 2009 RBC Pro Am Invitational matched a professional golfer with each foursome, which was comprised of RBC’s top clients, business contacts, and suppliers.
“Even the rain didn’t dampen the drive of organizers and participants to this year’s golf invitational,” said Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation Chair Jacy Wingson. “Passionate partners like RBC are critical as our hospital continues to evolve into its role as a regional and teaching hospital.”
"RBC Dominion Securities is very proud to lend our support to the Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation," said David Agnew, CEO and National Director, RBC Dominion Securities. "We encourage all businesses to become involved and help improve the quality of life in local communities across Canada."
Established in 1992, Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation has raised more than $50 million to purchase medical equipment, fund innovative programs, and support training and research.
