ICBC has named a president and CEO six months after the public auto insurer's previous boss resigned amid a scandal over the sale of rebuilt cars.
Jon Schubert takes over the helm of the insurance corporation in mid-November, ending an intensive headhunting search.
He's currently president and CEO of Saskachewan Government Insurance – ICBC's equivalent there.
Schubert brings 30 years of knowledge and experience in private and public insurance, according to ICBC chair T. Richard Turner, who called him "well positioned to lead ICBC."
ICBC was rocked by revelations that 100 written-off vehicles were rebuilt and then sold to the public without disclosure of past crashes, and that auctions were rigged so ICBC managers and insiders could outbid the public to get the most desirable rebuilds, typically high-end cars with minimal damage.
The corporation apologized and offered to buy back vehicles.
An investigation by the RCMP's commercial crime section is continuing.
Taylor, who said he left voluntarily, went to a B.C. wind energy firm.
