Despite being outshot 42-21 – and outscored after two periods – on home ice by the visiting Westside Warriors, the Surrey Eagles pulled another rabbit out of their hats Wednesday night, earning a 6-4 victory.
The Birds potted four goals in the third period to earn their seventh consecutive victory, and their third come-from-behind win in less than a week.
The Warriors led 4-2 after 40 minutes, but Mike Krgovich pulled the home team within one goal with a power-play marker 4:47 into the third, and Jeff Regier and Chris Santiago scored less than three minutes later to pull the Eagles into the lead.
Regier added an empty-netter with five seconds to go to ice the game.
Vinny Lessard was between the pipes for the Eagles, stopping 38 shots.
Krgovich, the team's leading scorer, also had two assists to go with his goal, and Richard Vanderhoek also had a pair of helpers.
The Eagles are on home ice tonight (Friday) at 7 p.m. against the Victoria Grizzlies. On Sunday, they travel to Powell River for a date with the Kings.
