Two members of the White Rock Tritons were part of the British Columbia team that captured top spot at the Baseball Canada Cup last weekend in Kindersley, Sask.

Tritons’ pitcher/infielder Milan Mantle and outfielder Jerod Bartnik both played key roles in leading Team BC to a 7-6 victory over Quebec Sunday, in the championship game of the U17 tournament.

In the final, Bartnik played left field, and though he did not get a hit in the contest, he drew a walk and later scored a run.

Mantle’s biggest moment came on the mound Saturday, in B.C.’s 10-0 win over New Brunswick.

Mantle through a five-inning, complete game no-hitter, while striking out 10 New Brunswick batters and walking just one.
