Potential riders have no choice

With the recent controversy over rerouting of the 351 bus, I am surprised no one has mentioned that anyone wishing to go shopping at Grandview Corners is out of luck if they want to take transit.
How ridiculous to build a huge shopping centre with no way of getting there unless you have a car.
The nearest bus will drop you off at the other side of Highway 99; a lengthy walk for many seniors. How easy it would be to extend the bus route a few more blocks and have the bus make a circle around the shopping centre and back out again.
But then again, if it makes sense then it probably won’t happen.
Are the transit planners aware there are actually people living in the areas bordering King George Highway east to 200 Avenue, and from 0 Avenue north to 40 Avenue?
There are thousands who have no choice but to drive instead of having the option of taking transit.
While Richmond and Vancouver enjoy a new SkyTrain, in addition to their bus routes, many Surrey residents have no bus service at all.

Editor’s note: TransLink announced last year that a bus route linking South Surrey and Langley – through Grandview – would be in place in 2009. Funding talks are underway.
