Keep direct bus for peak hours

Coast Mountain’s website still maintains it provides express, limited-stop bus service for South Delta/White Rock residents, and does not suggest any change to this service in the near or distant future.
In a May 5, 2008 e-mail, John Timms, of Coast Mountain Bus, said: “We realize that having to transfer to the Canada Line will not be as convenient as your present commute. You are certainly not alone in stating that you would prefer a single-mode trip. Some modifications of the proposal may be possible.”
Commute-time estimate for residents transferring to the Canada Line is 72 minutes each way. My current commute with one direct bus takes approximately 45 minutes each way. With the new and efficient Canada Line, South Delta/White Rock commuters will have to tack on at least an additional hour in travel time each day.
What modifications could be made to TransLink’s plan? The answer seems clear.
I’m not suggesting no trains for Tsawwassen, rather beseeching TransLink and Coast Mountain Bus to retain the outstanding transit service presently enjoyed by South Delta/White Rock residents during peak hours, 6-9 a.m. and 3-6 p.m. Monday to Friday.
With the Highway 99 north- and southbound bus lanes, our commute time will be even less, likely in a constant range of 35-40 minutes. That would be fantastic.
South Delta/White Rock residents could utilize TransLink’s Canada Line commuting option outside of peak hours and in accordance with VANOC’s 2010 transportation plan.
