Hurled eggs a costly prank

I thought to inform White Rock about a problem.

Our vehicles are under attack!

While I don’t live in White Rock, my significant other does. And when I stay at his place – on Thrift Avenue, close to Johnston Road – there is no place to put my car but outside.

In April, my car and other cars around me were hit by paintballs.

Do you know how hard it is to get rid of that stuff? Took a long soak in Simply Green to start lifting it. I still have some paintball goo on my car, and scratches all over the rest from removing it.

Then, last night, I parked in nearly the same spot. My car was hit by eggs.

Eggs, as it were, are one of the surefire ways to ruin a paint job. Once it dries, it erodes the paint. And an egg will usually dry overnight, with the owner at a loss the next morning with the discovery.

One egg equals a $500 paint job!

I caught the egg on time – a vinegar-and-water solution worked well – and I only have minor damage.

Since I am a student, I will have to live with that. Others might not have found the egg remains in time.

I assume it is perhaps youth doing this, or maybe high school graduates celebrating their end of school year. But I doubt they know how much damage they are really doing.

And if their parents know their kids are doing this, I hope they too know the price it costs others.
