City should make a stand

White Rock will soon be hosting its 29th annual Tour de White Rock, and while congratulations are due for hosting such a sporty event, the city should take this opportunity to make its waterfront more bike-friendly by supplying more bicycle parking racks.
Rather than trying to find room for more parking spaces and laying yet more asphalt for ever more vehicles, White Rock needs to rethink its transportation priorities, in this age of ever-rising gas prices and global warming.
As the price of gas increases, more and more folks are going to be travelling by bus and bicycle.
Why not invest some monies on bicycle parking racks? There are precious few on the waterfront.
Many exciting designs are available – check out, for example, Artful CycLoops designs – so the city could also improve the aesthetics and bring an element of flair to its otherwise bland expanses of asphalt by adding innovative bicycle racks.
