Bridge work
Constructing a new bridge, where King George Highway crosses the Serpentine River, is expected to take about two months and cost $1.2 million, according to a Surrey report. It will initially serve both directions, but will transition to carry northbound vehicles in about five years, when the highway is slated for four lanes. The existing bridge, built in 1939, is to be pedestrian- and cyclist-only.
