Training day

Innovative Fitness’s annual Train the Trainer event is back for the holidays, giving clients the chance to exact a little friendly revenge on their personal trainers.
On Dec. 11, some members of the South Surrey fitness centre will donate money – cost is $50 for every five minutes – to put the Innovative Fitness trainers through the same grueling routines they’ve been dishing out all year.
Money raised at the event – which is in its third year on the Peninsula, but has been around more than a decade at other Innovative Fitness locations – will be donated to charity, including the White Rock South Surrey Foundation.
“Basically, the trainers do whatever the clients want them to do – even if it means back to back to back workouts,” explained Innovative Fitness’s Curtis Christopherson.
“Some people put up a lot of money, and try to break the trainers. It’s quite a fun event.”
With 14 trainers at the facility for the two-hour event, Christopherson expected thousands of dollars to be raised. Last year the event raised $15,000 in South Surrey, and $45,000 company-wide.
