Olympic spirit coming to town

Join Kim Gordon, manager of government partnerships for VANOC, for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and former member of the Canadian Olympic Rowing Team, for a fun and informative presentation on the 2010 Winter Games.
Discover everything you always wanted to know about the Games and haven’t had a chance to ask, including a Games overview, volunteer and home hosting opportunities, plus how the community of White Rock can become inspired by the 2010 Winter Games.
This all-ages presentation is on Thursday, Nov. 19 at the new White Rock Community Centre, and runs from 7-8:30 p.m.

If you suspect a change in your hearing, make an appointment for a free screening test at Kent Street Centre on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
Boardwalk Hearing will provide complimentary hearing tests and can help with minor hearing aid checks and cleaning.

Join Maggie Rodgers for an exciting presentation on the gardens of northern England and North Wales on Wednesday, Nov. 18 and 25. (Norway has been postponed).
The presentation starts promptly at 3 p.m. at the White Rock Community Centre, 15154 Russell Ave.

A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped out at the Kent Street Seniors Society’s Bridge Luncheon on Oct. 30, and to the activity groups that donated door prizes.
The afternoon was a resounding success.
The Seasonal Flu Clinic scheduled for this Friday, Nov. 13 at Kent Street is cancelled.
No new dates have been rescheduled at this time.

Because the scheduled seasonal flu clinic is cancelled on Nov. 13, the auditorium at Kent Street is now available for regularly scheduled activities and programs.
The cardio workout and stretch class and carpet bowling activity will be on as usual. The coffee shop, however, will be closed for the day.
Tickets are available now for Kent Street’s annual Mistletoe Dinner being held on Thursday, Dec. 3.
Doors open at 4 p.m. and a delicious Christmas dinner will be served. Please bring a non-perishable donation for the White Rock Food Bank.

Just a reminder that because Kent Street Activity Centre is closed on Wednesday, Nov. 11 for Remembrance Day, there will be no dance.
Regular hours of operation will resume on Thursday.
All members of Kent Street are invited to attend the centre’s annual general meeting on Monday, Nov. 23 at 2:30 p.m. in the auditorium. This is a great opportunity to find out more about the centre, provide some support and get to meet fellow members.
