The White Rock/South Surrey Newcomers Club is once again working to make Christmas a little brighter for children, by collecting gifts for its annual Toy Tea.

Set for Dec. 1 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, club members and their guests are asked to contribute by donating new, unwrapped, non-violent toys suitable for youngsters ranging in age from newborn to teenagers.

About 100 people attended the first event in 2007, where approximately 225 new toys were collected, as well as gifts for mothers and baby needs. Last year, more than 600 gifts were collected.

As per tradition, gifts collected this year will be distributed through Atira Women's Resource Society, a non-profit organization that supports women and their children who are experiencing violence.

Members of the public wishing to donate may drop off gifts to Bay Wines (26-15288 36 Ave.), Brewing Experience (15-3033 King George Hwy.) or Enchanted Harvest (5-15578 24 Ave.).
