Escape from the cold weather and drop into the centre for a fun game of bingo every Tuesday, from 1-3 p.m. in the Kent Street Auditorium.
Small cash prizes and jackpot games add to the excitement. Bring a friend or come on your own and meet new friends.
Come early and enjoy some lunch before you play at the Kent Street Coffee Shop.
The 2010 Olympic Winter Games will be here before you know it, and to help you “catch” the Olympic spirit, White Rock Leisure Services is offering an evening full of “everything Olympics” on Thursday, Nov. 19 starting at 7 p.m. at the White Rock Community Centre.
Join Kim Gordon, manager of government partnerships for the Vancouver Organizing Committee and former member of the 1980 Canadian Olympic rowing team, for a fun and informative presentation on the 2010 Games.
Discover everything you always wanted to know but hadn’t had a chance to ask. Learn about volunteer and home hosting opportunities plus how the community of White Rock will be celebrating.
Pre-registration is required – call 604-541-2231.
Did you know you can drop in to the Kent Street Activity Centre and try out the activities three times before purchasing a membership?
Cribbage, bid whist, mah jong, bridge and bingo are just some of the social games available for those 55-plus.
Get active with table tennis, social dancing, carpet bowling, snooker or one of the exercise groups. Get creative with woodcarving, stitch and chat, choir or sing-along.
Learn something new at the computer club or Spanish conversation group.
There are many opportunities awaiting you at the centre. Feel free to drop by and take a look around, you won’t be disappointed.
The Kent Street Seniors Society is looking for volunteers who can share a few hours of their time each month to help with the fundraising arm of the centre.
This can be a rewarding opportunity for those who like to work with others for a common goal.
Volunteers are also needed to help out at the Friday, Oct. 30 bridge luncheon.
If you or someone you know might be interested, please don’t hesitate to call us today at 604-541-2231.
Mark your calendar for Tuesday, Oct. 27 and enjoy a relaxing lunch at a local restaurant.
The Kent Street Dining Club meets the last Tuesday of every month and welcomes anyone who would like to dine in the company of others.
Please call ahead for the location and hostess for this month.
The Kent Street Activity Centre, located at 1475 Kent St., is open to people 55 years of age or better. For information on activities, programs and volunteer opportunities, call 604-541-2231.
