White Rock resident Brenda Bedry will host A Fighting Chance Oct. 30, a dinner/dance benefit to raise awareness about colon cancer.
Bedry – who was diagnosed with the disease last June – was spurred to take action when faced with the high cost of cancer therapies.
The 60-year-old grandmother is now holding the benefit at the Scandinavian Community Centre, 6540 Thomas St., in North Burnaby from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.
The event will feature a silent auction and guest speaker Dr. Jim Chan, a cancer specialist.
