White Rock's Stan Fryer has been named B.C.'s top fundraiser for Alzheimer's.
Fryer earned the recently announced distinction for his efforts in the annual Investors Group Walk for Memories. He was one of thousands who participated in the Jan. 25 event, which was held in communities across the province.
B.C.-wide, the walk raised more than $490,000. Funds help the Alzheimer Society of B.C. support those impacted by the disease, and support research for a cure.
According to a recently released national study, more than 70,000 people in B.C. are living with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia and 10,000 of them are under the age of 65.
Next year's White Rock/Langley/Surrey/Delta Walk is set for Jan. 31 at Coyote Creek Golf Course.
