Feeling OK with Feelings: 10-Week Anger Management Group for Women will be offered by Peace Arch Community Services counselling program every Tuesday starting next month.
Participants will gain insight and skills related to self-esteem, self-awareness, assertiveness and communication, while identifying patterns of anger in their personal lives within a culturally sensitive context.
Group activities will include the use of art therapy, group discussion, personal journals and work books. All materials will be provided.
The group will be held Sept. 8 to Nov. 17 (except Oct. 6) from 7 to 9 p.m. Cost is $100.
Also this fall, Self-Care Retreat for Women will be available for women seeking a greater connection to their thoughts, feelings, behavior and choices.
Held Oct. 15 to Nov. 19 from 7 to 9 p.m., the retreat is meant to be an opportunity to explore one's lived experience using art therapy, guided imagery, journals, meditation, group discussion and phototherapy in a safe, supported and peaceful setting.
Cost is $60 for six two-hour sessions.
Facilitator for both the anger management group and retreat will be Angela Herd, an art therapist with PACS' counselling program. She has provided support to children and families of diverse need for more than 17 years.
Both services have been funded by Soroptimist International White Rock.
