Catharina Chwiendacz celebrated her 100th birthday Aug. 3 at Crescent Gardens Retirement Community, where she currently lives.
Born in Montmarte, Sask., Chwiendacz had eight brothers and two sisters.
She married in 1928 to Thomas, and moved to Vancouver in 1953, then Surrey in 1968.
The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary just six months before Thomas passed away. Chwiendacz has five sons, 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
