White Rock Youth Ambassador candidates vying for the Miss White Rock title participated in the Speech and Talent Competition last week.
The 11 young women will also be graded on a fashion show presentation, essay, community knowledge exam, personal interview attendance and attitude before a winner is announced.
The 2009 ambassador team will be presented at the 52nd annual awards gala, held Friday, July 31 at 7 p.m. at the Coast Capital Playhouse.
The newly crowned ambassadors will then begin their volunteer year the following day at the Spirit of the Sea Festival and Torchlight Parade.
The teens will learn how to be effective volunteers, fundraisers and event organizers with the purpose of fostering community leaders.
